Changing Your Logo Without Discarding Your Stock: 659 Metal Accessories Adapted to a New Brand Identity

A change in visual identity can make products obsolete even though they are still perfectly usable.

You have a stock of cosmetic accessories that still bear your old logo. In this case, do you necessarily have to dispose of these items?

At OVERPRINT, we assess the possibility of modifying the marking directly on your existing accessories to adapt them to your new visual identity.

Context

A cosmetics brand has a stock of 659 metal accessories bearing its former visual identity.
The accessories themselves are compliant and fully functional. Only the logo no longer matches the brand’s new identity.

One initial solution is to cover the old logo with a white patch, then apply the new marking.
But another option is explored with OVERPRINT: rather than covering the old logo, why not remove it?

A few pieces are then sent to the workshop to assess the feasibility of the treatment and identify the most suitable solution for the material.

Our intervention

Before production begins, OVERPRINT conducts tests on 5 pieces.

In just 2 days, the client receives three physical samples to compare different solutions:

Removal of the old logo + new laser marking;

Removal of the old logo + printing of the new logo in white;

Removal of the old logo + printing of the new logo in black.

The tests confirm the feasibility of laser removal of the old logo and allow the different possible finishes to be compared.

The client ultimately chooses the white printing of the new logo.

OVERPRINT then handles the entire process:

Laser removal of the old logo;

Printing of the new logo in white;

Application of a protective varnish to improve the durability of the marking on the steel;

Return of the pieces to the brand’s warehouse.

Our intervention

Result

The 659 metal accessories were successfully adapted to the brand’s new visual identity.

The existing components were preserved: only the marking was modified.

The process therefore made it possible to revalorize the existing stock, without discarding the pieces or starting a new production run.

This case illustrates a straightforward possibility: when a product or component becomes unusable because of information or marking that has become obsolete, it may be worth considering adapting it before replacing it.

Result

Give packaging a second chance

Through laser removal, printing of the new logo, and the application of a protective varnish, OVERPRINT was able to adapt the existing pieces to the brand’s new visual identity.

This case illustrates a straightforward possibility: when a product or component becomes unusable because of information or marking that has become obsolete, it may be worth having the OVERPRINT reflex and considering adaptation before replacement.
